Time for Reflection

So here we are, about to enter the second week of September, the kids are back at school/college/uni, Summer holidays over for most of us, and Autumn is in the air. Time for reflection…

Where has the time gone since we were making New Year Resolutions, or at least setting goals or intentions, for 2014? How far forward have you travelled along that path towards becoming a greater you, building a greater business…or have you fallen off the path? Either way, it doesn’t have to be the beginning of a new year to make new plans, so just press the pause button, take stock of your current situation, and ask yourself, ‘Am I truly happy with where I am right now?’ If the answer is ‘Yes’, great, carry on doing what you’re doing! If the answer is ‘No’, maybe the next three questions you need to ask yourself are ‘Why?’, ‘What changes do I need to make?’ and ‘How can I make them?’.

Looking at the 9 key areas of life in the table further down the page, take some time to evaluate how you feel about each area of your own life, then score it on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being rubbish and 10 being amazing. Write down your score for each area and make some notes for yourself as to why you’ve given them the scores you have. Doing this will help you to gain some self-awareness, and from there you can begin to take some positive action!

If there are several areas where you want to make changes, don’t feel overwhelmed and panic, you don’t have to change everything at once. Start off by choosing the one area that you feel you most need to work on. You can start by making small changes, just one step at a time, and by this time next year, all areas of your life could be very different.

Just remember, whatever’s going on in your life, you always have choices. It’s up to you to take the steps you need to take, to create the life you want to live, no-one else can do it for you. To help keep you on track, revisit this exercise regularly, and if you feel you need some help and guidance, you may consider investing in the support of a qualified life coach.
